Doulas draw on their training, knowledge, and experience to provide the birthing family with emotional support, physical comfort, and information during the pregnancy and birth process. Doulas provide guidance in communication with care providers to make sure that the expectant mother and birth partner(s) have the information they need to make informed decisions during labor. Doulas also help provide reassurance and perspective to the expectant family, make suggestions for helping labor to progress, and help with relaxation, massage, positioning and other techniques for comfort.
Prenatal Visits
Your Steadfast Doula Services will include two prenatal visits. During these meetings I will learn your preferences regarding labor management and the various options available to you. These visits enable us to get to know one another and for me to understand your unique ways of coping with pain and fatigue and how you and your partner foresee working together as a team.
Birth Support
As your Birth Doula, I will be "on call" for you from your 38th week of pregnancy to provide phone support 24 hours a day as needed until you are ready for me to join you for your labor. During labor, I provide you and your partner with continuous support and service in your home, birth center or hospital of choice. After birth, I typically stay for an hour or so to, assist with breastfeeding if needed and ensure you are comfortable and ready for quiet time together as a family.
Post Partum Visit
My services also include a postpartum visit to see how everyone is doing, to review the birth, and provide any additional information and resources you need to get settled into your new roll as parents.
